The Hand Crank Air Raid Siren was used in World War II to alert people of incoming air raids. Since it’s almost been a century since the end of World War II, this device should be outdated, right? Well, No! It is even more useful than it seems.
If you work in a place where there is a consistent need for alerts and notifications, such as factories, schools, military units, disaster management, shopping centers etc., then the Air Raid Siren will come in handy.
It is also useful for recreation and fun-filled activities such as games, competitions and pranks where alarms are necessary.
Features of the Hand Crank Air Raid Siren
- The Air Raid Siren is of three makes; some are made of plastic, which offer a siren at around 110 dB (Decibels), some others are made of metal with siren at around 115 dB while more expensive varieties have their own tripod stands and could hit up to 140dB.
- Some of them are hand-held and come with a handle that you close before the siren starts, some others come with a base that you could fasten to a table or a workbench.
- For this particular product, the siren offers 110 +/- 2dB over a transmission distance of 1000 meters. It is also made of Aluminum.
- It’s net weight is 12kg, making it fairly portable and travel friendly (well, slightly).
- It measures 190 * 190 * 170 in dimension.
How to setup and use the Hand-Crank Siren
- Lay the base flat on a fixed platform, if yours has a base you can clamp to a table or workbench, then do so
- Align the rocker arm to the holes of the screw and tighten it in a clockwise direction
- Grab the handle (the one meant for grip) and open the air door (now make sure you adjust the air door in the direction of your motion in order to control the volume of the sound).
- Turn the rocking handle in clockwise motion with your right hand until you hear the sound
This gadget is perfect for industries and/or activities with the need for alarms and solid timing. Activities that would find this handy include firefighting, factory production, military drills and flood control etc.
