The Defusable Bomb Alarm Clock is an electronic kit that allows you build a clock that works like any other alarm clock but doubles as a defusable bomb!

It has regular alarm clock features like beeping alarm, snooze, etc. However, when you press the big red “detonate” button, the clock starts a scary countdown exactly like time bombs in the movies.

Once the countdown begins, you have 10 seconds to find and cut the right wire in order to defuse the “bomb”.

There are four wires at the top of the clock and the function of the wires are assigned at random. With each new cycle of operation, one randomly assigned wire will set off (or detonate) the “bomb” immediately. Another randomly assigned wire will defuse the device. The remaining two wires do nothing at all (for a specific cycle).

Once the red button is pressed, you never know what each wire is expected to do. So, you’ll just have to take your chances and see what happens. This means that every time you play this game, you are guaranteed a whole new challenge, and that feeling that comes with saving the day.

The wires of the Defusable Bomb Clock are attached to a screw terminal for ease of replacement. The kit also comes with extra wires. However, if you keep the screws a little loose, you can just pull out the wires instead of cutting and having to replace them.

Only the electronics come with this kit. You will have to assemble the functional clock yourself. And soldering is required to assemble this kit.

So, if you want to learn to solder, this may be a good place to start learning. This could be your first project.

All the components are through-hole (there are no surface mount parts). So, this is certainly great for beginners since surface mount parts are generally more complicated and require a higher level of expertise to handle.

This kit requires a 9 Volts DC adapter with a 2.1mm plug (center positive). This power adapter is not included. It is very common though.
